BOINC@TOKYO — A Distributed Computing Team Supporting Science BOINC@TOKYO is a team that leverages members’ idle computer time to support scientific research worldwide. By joining BOINC projects, members donate computing resources to accelerate large-scale computations in fields such as medicine, climate science, and space research. Our activities focus on contributing to science and building collaborative relationships. Members earn credits through project participation and engage with other BOINC users and teams to share knowledge and foster cooperation. 2024年にお亡くなりになられたALS患者の川口美玲さん。故人が発信し続けた「苦しみを抱える中で生きる希望をどう見いだすかを伝えたい」。BOINC@TOKYOはチーム美玲と連絡体制をとりつつも、お会いする機会を得ることができず、お別れにも関与できませんでした。心よりご冥福をお祈りいたします。川口さんが伝え続けた現実を、残された私たちは伝え続け、希望の光を絶えず灯さなければならないこと。いつか必ず治療法が見つかることを信じてやみません。

Mirei Kawaguchi, an ALS patient who passed away in 2024. She continued to share her message: “I want to convey how to find hope for living while enduring suffering.” Although BOINC@TOKYO maintained contact with Team Mirei, we were unable to meet with her in person and could not be present for her final farewell. We offer our heartfelt condolences. It is our duty to continue sharing the reality that Ms. Kawaguchi consistently conveyed and to keep the light of hope burning brightly. We remain unwavering in our belief that a cure will one day be found.
